Welcome to the Global Nutrition Collaborative Research Support Program (Global Nutrition CRSP) for Africa and Asia. Please select the tabs above to explore our project; select the “Leadership/Contact” tab for contact information.

The Nutrition CRSP aims to discover how policy interventions can most effectively achieve large scale improvements in child nutrition outcomes. We work collaboratively with a network of colleagues in Asia and Africa to support research on child nutrition outcomes, through a partnership between the Friedman School of Nutrition at Tufts University, the Schools of Public Health at Harvard University and Johns Hopkins University, the College of Agriculture at Purdue University and the College of Agricultural, Environmental, and Natural Sciences at Tuskegee University. Select Leadership/Contact for links to program leaders at each partner institution. You can also download a brochure below.

Research

Our research focuses on the population-level effectiveness of all kinds of interventions, including particularly the integration of agriculture, health and nutrition programs as in USAID’s Feed the Future initiative. We ask how widespread reductions in child underweight, stunting and disease burden are most effectively achieved, through what combination of programs affecting agricultural production and access to food, health care and service delivery, household behavior change and community development as well as nutrient supplementation, fortification and biofortification.

Background

The Nutrition CRSP was launched in late 2010, through a leader award targeting one country in Asia and one in Africa, with associate awards elsewhere. As of December 2010, the proposed implementation plan is pending USAID approval, and consists of a single integrated program of collaborative research and capacity building, supporting a large network of researchers evaluating program operations and service delivery throughout the agriculture and health sectors of our target countries. Please use the drop-down menu above for more information.
